Sometimes error detection or correction
codes are included as included as part of
the xmission standard.
In EIA-232 a parity bit is sometimes used.
Odd parity makes the data+parity odd, Even
parity makes it even. 8-none-1 = 8 data
bits, no parity and one stop bit (lowest
overhead EIA-232 xmission).
