Services Provided to the Transport Layer
Some services (ARPANET, X.25 etc..) the network layer runs in the IMPs and the transport layer runs in the hosts.
There is controversy regarding what services are provided.
There is agreement about the following:
• services should be independent of the subnet technology
• The transport layer should be shielded from the number, type and topology of the subnets present
